Fair Trade
Fair Trade is an effort for consumers to pay a "fair" price to the producers for their products in developing countries. When a product
is deemed "Fair Trade" it means the producers and traders have met Fair Trade standards. The standards are designed to address the
imbalance of power in trading relationships in unstable markets. Fair Trade Month is all about spreading the word. It's about letting
your friends, family and coworkers know what a big difference Fair Trade makes in the lives of small farmers and farm workers throughout
the world. October is Fair Trade month and Seattle Weekly is highlighting those businesses that choose to offer Fair Trade
products in our 9.23 issue.
