Soap Making Class

Wed, Thurs, Fri 6:30-7:30 p.m., Sat 3-4 p.m.
Ballard Organic Soap Company
Cost: $25 per person

This is a one time class, which will cover cold-process bar soap making. Ben will go through the soap making process and make a large batch of unscented soap. Once the soap is ready to pour into molds the students will have the opportunity to pick scents and herbs to add to their soap and will take home a quart container (yields 6-8 bars of soap). Home Canning Classes

Washington Can Can! Learn the methods and secrets of home canning and get the approved USDA "Encyclopedia" of Home Canning, all in one stop. Vickie Phelps will be on hand at 11 am on these dates to help beginners get started on the right foot as well as offering fresh ideas for experienced canners. Each class day will start at 11 am with Introduction to Home Canning of Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables.

The weekly classes will be tailored to the attendee's skill levels and whatever fruits and vegetables are in season and will feature a "Just Can It!" worksheet so the attendees can go home and put into practice the skills taught in the class.

Sweet Skins Trunk Show

Sweet Skins has grown into a business that is both ecologically sound and ethically run, using the latest and greatest in ecologically sound fibers and conscious clothing manufacturing; fabrics like eco-fleece, hemp, organic cottons and wool for their low impact processing and superior texture and quality. They will be showcasing their most recent collection at Bootyland in December.

Regenerated Clothing Workshop

Jenny Allen, owner & designer of Madrone Berries, a recycled clothing company in Port Townsend, will be offering this great workshop, including all patterns, materials and individualized instruction to make two hats, two scarves and two pairs of mitts from clean sweaters and t-shirts. Also includes individual instruction if you want to work on your own project. Bring your own sewing machine, thread and scissors, and other recycled material if you want to work on your own project. This is a great opportunity to hear her story and share her knowledge. Don't miss it!

Yoga and the Fountain of Youth workshop

In theYoga and the Fountain of Youth workshop with Terri Dyer you will learn 1) simple creative visualization techniques; 2) yoga postures (Asana); 3) simple nutrition guidelines to nourish the body and fuel the mind and 4) the use of essential oils to help maintain balanced hormonal health. This workshop is appropriate for all ages and previous yoga experience is not required.
